Broader community impacts, including social, demographic, and health outcomes, differ from other developments as a result of the geospatial dispersion of CSG activities and uncertainties about potential environmental impacts.

Independent Expert Scientific Committee on CSG and Large Coal Mining

The Independent Expert Scientific Committee on Coal Seam Gas and Large Coal Mining Development  provides scientific advice on the impact that coal seam gas and large coal mining development may have on Australia’s water resources.

It was established as a statutory committee in 2012 by the Australian Government in response to community concerns about coal seam gas and coal mining.
